Being an avid astro/night sky time-lapse photographer based in Singapore, I spend a lot of time researching on locations to film my next astro/night sky time-lapse movie and knowing the best time to visit a location to film a particular scene is important to me. So I developed this web-based astronomy tool to speed up the research work with the following features:

  • Monitor weather conditions so I know when to start and stop filming my time-lapse
  • Animate most up-to-date satellite images fast on mobile devices even on Edge network
  • Show visible duration of astro objects so I know how much time I have to film them
  • Track movement of milky way, meteors and other astro objects
  • Graphical display of sunrise, sunset, moonrise, moonset, Milky Way and real time weather information
  • Generate daily celestial events for one year period so I won't miss any important celestial event
  • Generate report based on one year period to determine the best time to visit a location to film a particular scene
  • Discover new shooting spots using Dark Sky Finder
  • Generate visible deep sky objects for the night

The layout is not aesthetically appealing as less images were used to increase loading speed in area where the fastest network you have is the old Edge network. Access is based on 3 different levels and if you wish to become a member, do check out my Facebook page and join any of my travel workshops or email me for any enquiries.

Last but not least, the figures are meant to be an approximate and it should not be used for navigation purpose. Turn on your GPS to detect your location automatically.

I hope to put what I've learnt about our universe into good use and also hope you will benefit from it. Depending on my schedule, I might develop mobile app for this tool in the near future. I will update this tool whenever I am able to and post the changes here. Meanwhile if you have any feedback/suggestion, please email me at astro@justinngphoto.com
