    Feedback.

So for those who are not active in MOP forum, does that mean we always get the short stick of the invites?

I personally feel this has to be managed well if not, any MOPSG email will be discarded since email invite is way too late to be of any use. As they say once bitten twice shy. I have done the same with Nikon invite too since it is always filled with Clubsnap people first and then the email is of no use or effect. Please allow a level playing field.

    Hi Wilswong,

Thanks for your feedback! The thread was created on 19 July without RSVP details. The RSVP details were only added on 21 July and members who have subscribed to our SMS service will receive the updates as promised on the day itself. Please note that we did not give priority to MOPSG forum members first but rather, we gave priority to users who have subscribed to our SMS service. And user need not be a registered member of this forum to subscribe to the SMS service. This is the difference.

Initially we set the limit at 30 pax but due to overwhelming response after we sent out SMS, we decided to increase the limit to 50 yesterday (22 July) and thus, the email invites were sent out and we have exceeded the limit today.

Thanks for your feedback once again and we are glad you brought this up so we could clarify

So what happen to those who do not know how to get on the SMS notification? Or choose not to have SMS notification because of work issue? I believe should have the lowest denominator first to be fair to everyone and that would be email. And to be even fairer, Email first and SMS later. I personally do not know there was an SMS notification service so in that sense it is already not that fair.

My 2 cents since I am also an organiser and I always look out for the fairest way to notify people so that one would not feel left out.

The reason why we designed and implemented our very own SMS service is because we wanted it to act like iphone's push notification. That is to push the most updated information to users who have subscribed to the service without having the need to visit forum to see them.

The information is located at the main page of this forum (if you're a guest user) and if you're a member, you would get that information via email. But because you registered before we implemented the SMS service, you might not see this in the email just after you registered. So we have sent out email to all members informing them about our SMS service the moment its launched and the SMS service is also visible at our Facebook page.

We allow SMS subscribers to subscribe to our updates when they are free or unsubscribe if they are busy and its impossible to please everybody. The best thing to do is to leave the option to them.

Email first and SMS later would defeat the purpose of having a push notification system. Obviously priority should be given to users who wants to be the first few to receive our updates than to push the information to users who are not keen.

To be fair to our sponsors and active users, we need to come up with a system that delivers result within the shortest timeframe and to be fair to users who wanted the latest information first, and SMS first approach works well for MOPSG as compared to email first approach. At the very least, we are sure our sms won't go into users' 'junkbox' and we don't have to battle against any email spam or privacy settings that users may have.

What works for other groups may not work for MOPSG. We thank you for your feedback once again.

Justin, granted what you have said. But would it help to make the SMS notification a bit easier to spot? Really I have tried the 'it is at the main page of the forum' location even do a text and forum search using 'SMS'. But really...my feedback comes from frustration. Sorry to be an arse but really...

Wilswong, since your case is an isolated one, we will PM you to assist you. And we will also put up a post soon to explain more on the SMS feature. I have censored part of your text on collaboration to avoid unnecessary attention Let's take that offline. Much appreciated. Thanks.
