Guide to using MOPSG SMS Info-On-Demand Service (Beta)

Ministry of Photography Singapore (MOPSG) is the first photography forum in Singapore to develop and implement SMS Info-On-Demand Service. Users can request for information or rsvp to an event just by sending a SMS! Usage and subscription are absolutely FREE although normal SMS charges still apply. This service is only available to users in Singapore using local mobile numbers. Please save the below number in your mobile phone under the name of MOPSG.

*Note*: As we are an active photography community, you will receive SMSes a few times in a week and so, please subscribe only if you don't mind receiving active updates from us. Priority will always be given to SMS subscribers for all events organised by MOPSG.

*Important*
Our SMS server will only recognise certain commands sent via SMS and any other messages sent will not be entertained. You will receive a reply from our SMS server to acknowledge your message (usually within 1 minute) but if you did not receive it after 5 minutes as our server might be busy, please send the SMS again or try again at a later time until you receive an acknowledgement. Please DO NOT REPLY to all confirmation messages you received from our SMS server.

Command format: SUB <your name>
Description: To subscribe to our SMS info-on-demand service and be one of the first to receive latest news, exclusive deals, events and outings.
Usage: SUB JUSTIN NG


Command format: RSVP <event ID> <your name>
Description: To RSVP to an event, take note of the event ID indicated in the event thread and use it when sending out the SMS.
Usage: RSVP 2 JUSTIN NG


Command format: EVENTINFO <event ID>
Description: To request for more information on the event you have RSVP to.
Usage: EVENTINFO 2


Command format: UNRSVP <event ID>
Description: To UNRSVP to an event you have RSVP to. Please note that every event has a deadline to allow you to UNRSVP. Once the deadline is past, you will no longer allowed to do so and failure to turn up to an RSVP event might result in a permanent ban or being blacklisted.
Usage: UNRSVP 2


Command format: UNSUB
Description: To stop receiving all updates and SMSes from MOPSG
Usage: UNSUB


Why use our SMS info-on-demand service?
MOPSG group is well supported by merchants and sponsors and the group has to remain active to enjoy these benefits. As such, we have implemented a point system to reward active members.

+2 points for event organiser
+1 point for member who turned up for event.
0 point for member who missed the event.
-1 point for member who turned into a pilot.

For a new member to be accepted into MOPSG group, he/she needs to earn at least 1 point. (Subject to change in near future)
For existing members who failed to earn at least 1 point after 3 months, their points will be reset to 0 (zero).
For members who have accumulated -3 points, he/she will be banned permanently, regardless of the number of points he/she has.

All benefits, exclusive deals and business opportunities will only be given to active members.

MOPSG SMS Subscription Service Terms of Use

Instructions & Terms Regarding Receiving MOPSG Information Via SMS

Members and non-members of MOPSG can opt-in to receive SMS notifications from MOPSG. If anyone chose to receive SMS notifications, they are required to opt-in by sending "SUB THEIR NAME" without quotes to 83187481 and replace THEIR NAME with their name to receive SMS notifications from MOPSG. Telco charges apply to all SMS messages to and generated by MOPSG SMS subscribers for MOPSG SMS notifications.

The opt-in process requires the user to SMS "SUB THEIR NAME" without quotes to 83187481 and replace THEIR NAME with their name. They will then receive a SMS reply from MOPSG SMS server to confirm that they do intend to opt-in to receive SMS notifications from mobile number 83187481. The user is then allowed to receive SMS notifications from MOPSG.

MOPSG SMS Subscribers who opt-in to receive MOPSG updates via Short Message Service (“SMS”) to their mobile phones must review and agree to these additional terms:

1. MOPSG may send out MOPSG related event updates, exclusive promotions to MOPSG members and subscribers, reminders to MOPSG SMS subscribers who RSVP to an event and post event thank you SMS to subscribers who have attended an event. MOPSG SMS Subscribers are deemed willing to accept these SMSes once they have opt-in for the service.

2. MOPSG is an active photography community and MOPSG SMS subscribers can expect high frequency of SMS notifications at times.

3. MOPSG does not rent, sell, or share personal information about you with other people or non-affiliated companies except to provide products or services you've requested, when we have your permission, or under the following circumstances:

We provide the information to trusted partners who work on behalf of or with MOPSG under confidentiality agreements. These companies may use your personal information to help MOPSG communicate with you about offers from MOPSG and our marketing partners. However, these companies do not have any independent right to share this information.

We respond to subpoenas, court orders, or legal process, or to establish or exercise our legal rights or defend against legal claims.

We believe it is necessary to share information in order to investigate, prevent, or take action regarding illegal activities, suspected fraud, situations involving potential threats to the physical safety of any person, violations of MOPSG's terms of use, or as otherwise required by law.

Users who subscribed to MOPSG SMS Notification Service are deemed to have read and accepted the above terms and conditions, which is subject to change without prior notice.
