Sky was slightly cloudy but nonetheless, star trails and DSO are still possible in Singapore and result will be much better if sky was clear.

A composite image of a lighthouse and the star trails both taken in Singapore. The actual geographic north pole is slightly off the center of the lighthouse by about 5 degrees to the right and located at about 1.3 degrees above the horizon.

    "Lighthouse Trails in Singapore"

A composite image of a lighthouse and the star trails both taken in Singapore. Re-edited my earlier lighthouse image to show that this star trails effect can be achieved without using any zooming device, which would otherwise be able to produce the same effect too. The actual geographic north pole is around 1.3 degrees above horizon behind the lighthouse.

    24 November 2013 - Singapore Star Trails

Filmed on 24 Nov 2013 morning in Singapore facing geographic South with moonlight illumination at around 60%. Camera was tilted at about 10-15 degrees above horizon to avoid light pollution.

Total exposure time for all images combined was around 1 hour before the clouds covered the sky. Not much editing done except making the clip looks cooler.

Main objective is to show you it's possible to shoot star trails in a light polluted city with the presence of Moon. And of course, the result will be much better without moonlight interference, which you will see near the top of the clip.
